Sydney - Day 1

--
We went to the airport with time and our neatly packed rucksacks, got onto the plain and 3 hours later we were in Sydney. The flight was a breeze, probably after the flight of 25 odd hours to get to Australia, this one looked like child's play.

Sydney Airport waiting for the shuttle

When we got to the backpacker's hotel we got the the good news first, we got upgraded from a 4 people room to a 3 people room, and the bad news after...there were no rooms available for Saturday night and it was very unlikely we would find any around this area. It's the Chinese new year festival!!! and everything is packed, so tomorrow we'll try to find a place where to go for that night.

So we decided to go for a walk while it was still daylight and on the way to the harbor try a few backpacker's places to see whether they had any rooms available. We tried 2 or 3 places and nothing was available. It looks like tomorrow we are gonna have to upgrade to a much better hotel in order to get a room...looks like an interesting day is ahead of us tomorrow, challenging to say the least.

Our current hotel is not far from the harbor, only 10-15 min walk. Sydney has a very nice marine although I suspect we'll have time to get a much better look within the next 7 days because that's how long we are planning on staying in Sydney...I think it's going to be too much but I've heard the wine tasting excursion is quite something...2 different people recommended it to me...for different reasons, one for the scenary the other for the unlimited alcohol consumption! I suppose they've found the way to please everyone. :-)

Nice restaurant

You can even visit A REAL SUBMARINE!!

The marine covers quite a large extension, there is a map and everything

I suspect tomorrow we´ll go to the aquarium...remember I'm travelling with a marine biologist! :-)

But tomorrow is another day...
