Day 4 - Great Barrier Reef

--

Yesterday, after a rocky navigation (thank God the seasick medication had kicked in already) we made it to Lizard Island we anchored the boat and had a BBQ to say good bye to some of the guys in the group.

From top left to right: Richard, Chelsey, Karin, Carlos and yours truly.
The whole troup:

it seems some of us booked a whole week whereas other people only booked 3 days. So the plan was for today drop the leavers at the airstrip and pick up the new arrivals. There is an airstrip in the island where the drop off and the pick up will take place.

So today in the morning, we had a good breakfast and with a full stomach and a bright sun, we got into the dingy and made our way to the island.

In case you were wondering why the island had that name...this is why:

It was a small island although very pretty, we did a walk around the island, picked up the new guests and made it back to the boat.

Then once on the boat the cook prepared us some pizzas and lasagna...John, the cook, really spoils us every day. Fantastic food!, specially the roast we had a couple of days ago...it was fantastic!

Then it was time for some more diving so we got on the move again and headed for the corals... I fell sleep and missed the first dive but I made it to the second one. :-)

We went back to Vertical Gardens which is were I had that night dive where I made it to the boat with an almost empty tank. Although this time I was much more conservative with the air. There was such a big difference now during the day. The diving spot was like a vertical wall of about 20 meters all full of coral and every fish you can think of feeding from it, and at the bottom I found a shark, it was a relatively small one, no more than a meter long and I was at no more than 2 meters from it, we stared at each other and then for my relieve it took off. This place during the day it just looks like an aquarium.
