When we were woken up this morning at 6.30 am, we had already reached the port of Cairns.
We went up to take advantage of the last breakfast on the boat and to settle any outstanding amount, we took some pictures and said our goodbyes to the crew. Everyone had a great time on this cruise so as you can imagine it took a while to say goodbye to everyone.
Below, the crew:

At about 8:30-09:00 we were all returned to our respective hotels and just as I was getting to mine I received a call from Aída, she was already in Cairns, fully rested and ready to start our Australian Great Adventure together. As I´ve mentioned earlier in another post she is the other crazy person who is going to spend 3 months touring around Australia.
After I filled out the corresponding forms, paid deposits etc... I was also ready to go and as we would still have to wait for half an hour for the shuttle we decided to walk all the way to the centre (20-30 minutes walk) which at that time the morning was actually quite nice to walk.
We walked around town, saw the main parts of town and we ended up in McDonalds taking advantage of the free Wifi. AFter that we went to a local italian and had a very decent pizza and now with a full stomach and with the sunny and hot day we were having we decided the only place were we could go was the local public swimming pool that I told you all about in some previous blog entries. This time, for the first time I tried it, well, we both did, it was impossible not to, it was the hottest day so far and it was so good that we spent the rest of the afternoon by the swimming pool, then by night the heat cooled down a bit so we had the chance to buy some esentials for the following day (like milk, cerals, yogurts, etc...) walk about and by 9:30 we took the shuttle back to the hotel were we had an interesting chat with the receptionist about the posibility of doing white water rafting on the the following days.
