Cyprus - Day 4 - The wedding before the wedding

--

Today we had the first wedding. Apparently when you get married in the church here in Cyprus you are not legally married so you also have to go to the register office and get married there and that's exactly what Alex and Skeve did.

Initially it was going to be a very informal wedding and even attendance was not required but in the end it got a bit more formal than anticipated and a lot of people showed up, although the attire was quite relaxed and very informal.

As you can see the room was quite tiny

And then people started to pour in little by little

The younger audience

Ah! I almost forgot to mention this but Alex asked me to be his best man and I was honoured to accept of course so I ended up having a much more active role in the wedding that I had initially anticipated. For starters I had temporary custody of the wedding rings! and I also had to borrow a shirt for this wedding because the only one I brought with me was for the other religious ceremony and with this heat (40C) you can't use a shirt more than once.

According to the wedding gossip these two may be the next on the line. ;-)

And now ladies and gentlemen, the unofficial wedding pictures

Half way through the ceremony the officer of the court told the groom he could kiss the bride and we all thought that was the end of the ceremony, but not...we all had to get back to our positions and continue...
That's it! officially married!

In case you were wondering, no, that wasn't Skeve's wedding dress, that was her backup wedding dress. ;-)

And that was it! Officially married...but the real wedding was still to come!
