Day 13: Kaiteriteri - Westport

Today we had a late start 12:30 so we had plenty of time to go to the beach despite of the sub-optimal wheather. Good enough for some pictures though.

Not sure what this is but there were lots of it. It looks like some kind of jelly fish

This particular beach was fed by a river so you could choose on whether to swim on the river or in the sea... equally cold if you ask me....

then along the way I had the opportunity to try the "famous" "Hokus Pokus" ice-cream. A flavour you can only find in NZ...apparently... pretty good though. :-)

The rest was a dull trip in the bus although I must admit that the views are amazing. It's a pity I couldn't take many pictures of some of the places we passed by becase they looked like postcards

After all the driving we finally made it to Westport. A small town on our way South.

The backpackers accomodation was a bit weird but very cosy

It had some very good views to the nearby mountains

Just before dusk some of us decided to walk to the port

Then we went back to our unit 7 and joined forces with unit 6. Spent sometime playing some games until midnight or so and then we all started to get ready for the following day. The bus would be leaving at 09:00

Again, not a fascinating day pack of action and adventure but at least the views from the bus were really good. We shall see what tomorrow has in store for us :-)
