How to go from Don Mueang airport to Khaosan Road

The bus stops in the international terminal (terminal 1), so if you come from a domestic fly, you probably arrived to the domestic flights terminal (terminal 2) so you'll have to go to the other terminal. Its not far, probably 5/10 min walk.

Once in the international terminal, go to exit 6

Once there, you'll see the sign for the A4, that's the bus you need.

And below is what the bus looks like

Once in the bus, take a seat and someone will come to sell you the ticket. As of October 2022, the price was 50 Bath (a little bit over one euro). When they come to sell you the ticket, they'll ask you where you are going, just say Khaosan Road, then just sit and relax. The trip lasts approximately 45 minutes.

This is what the Bus stop sign looks like at the destination

How to go from Suvarnabhumi airport to Khaosan Road by bus

As soon as you get your suitcase, go to the exit that is all the way to the left (left looking at the exits).

You are on the second floor so you need to go down one floor to the first floor.

once on the first floor look for exit 7

if you went down to the first floor and couldn't find exit 7, just go to the street and look for it from the outside. It's easier to find it from the outside as the airport is divided in several sections so depending on where you went down you may end up in one section or another, if you go to the street and look for it from there, you'll find it easy enough.

Once outside exit 7, simply go across the road to the island

Then just wait there by the signs

The bus you are looking for is the S1 and it looks like below

Once the bus arrives, get in and find a place to seat. The bus will have a driver and a person to get issue the tickets. Once you sit down, this person will come and ask you where you are going. The stop you want is Khaosan Road. As of October/2022 the price was 60 Bath (€1.80).

How do you know when you get to Khaosan road? The person issuing the tickets will shout it out several times. :-)

The trip takes about 1.5 hours although it may be quicker depending on the traffic.

Below is the locator for the Khaosan road bus stop:

Where to change money in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport

The best place to exchange money at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport is downstairs by the Rail Link station.

Once you collect your suitcase and exit to the arrivals terminal, follow the signs to the Airport Rail Link

These signs will take you downstairs, to the lowest level. You are on the second floor, so you'll need to go down two floors.

Once you reach the entrance of the Airport Rail Link

Instead of going to the Airport Rail Link you go through this area highlighted below

You'll go through a bunch of little shops right and left

Just keep going all the way to the end

the shop you are looking for is the one in the picture above (SuperRich). Usually it's the one with the longest queues.

Don't be deceived by the prices you can see on the other shops, they may look the same or even cheaper that SuperRich but it's just a rouse to bring you in, once you exchange the money they give you a much worse rate, if you complain about it after queuing up for a while, they'll offer you to change it back...but by that time you already wasted enough time and find it hard to go back to the other longer queue in SuperRich.

The difference is probably about 2% more in the other shops, depending on how much money you are trying to exchange, that may be an acceptable extra charge to avoid the queue in SuperRich.
